There are 5 different components of this program:

1. A two-hour program on different topics every three weeks on a Sunday afternoon.

2. A three-day leadership seminar with young Progressive Jews from all around Australia.

3. First aid training (or mental health first aid training).

4. Community projects: personal or group projects with the aim of creating some kind of change in your community.

5. Optional opportunities for leading and running activities for children in years 3-8, culminating with being madatzim (junior leaders) on Netzer Summer Camp in January 2024.

There are so many different reasons to do Pricha:

• To acquire necessary skills for leading children and educating others

• To connect with, and learn more about, your Judaism and Zionism

• To meet other young and passionate Progressive Jews in Sydney and around Australia

• To improve your resume with leadership qualifications and first aid training

• To gain volunteer experience (includes gaining hours for Duke of Edinburgh volunteering requirements)

Informal Education: This is the distinctive educational style of youth movements. Informal education is centred on the chanichimot’s (participant’s) personal and group journey. At Netzer, we practice experiential and values-based education.

Jewish and Zionist Leadership: Develop skills and knowledge to be an informed Jewish leader. Options to learn how to use Jewish texts to educate and challenge chanichim, critically speak about Israel, inspire passion for Judaism and more!

Tikkun Olam: We believe strongly in inspiring leaders to carry out their values in the world. Develop skills to enact social action, as well as empower others to do the same.

Relationship building: Interpersonal and group relationships are at the core of what it means to be a youth movement, and developing these relationships is key to the madrich’s (leader’s) work. Learn how to work with young people to build safe, productive and world-changing relationships!

First Aid: Become qualified in first aid or mental health first aid so you have the resources to respond to a physical or mental medical emergency.

At the bare minimum, chanichim (participants) are expected to attend a two-hour program every three Sundays and the Hadracha seminar dates TBC.

Chanichim of Pricha are also highly encouraged to sign up to lead on Netzer’s Junior Camp in 2025

Finally, Pricha is a one-year program that focuses on leadership through a Zionist lens and a stronger Jewish focus.

This covers a first aid course, a three-day seminar (food, accommodation, equipment, etc…), educators, and delicious food for Sunday afternoon sessions. If chanichim (participants) elect to lead on Netzer Sydney’s Summer Camp 2025, there will be an additional fee for camp.

Yes! This program is for everyone regardless of whether or not you have been to Netzer before. It is encouraged for everyone who wishes to acquire leadership skills and explore their passions in a critical and engaging manner.
